Satelite B

Palapa-B satellite program is the second-generation satellite programs made by Hughes Spaces and Communication Company in Indonesia, this time there are four-generation satellite Palapa-B HS-376 kinds of ordered to continuity of operations SKSD Palapa-A ended the period of operation. Palapa-B was increased to 24 transponder C-band and a wider coverage area to be able to reach all areas of ASEAN. This is based on estimates of domestic telecommunication needs for government use and needs of ASEAN countries based on the results of the Working Group of technical experts and the ASEAN economies in 1978.
Palapa-B1 and B2 was launched by the shuttle (STS) Challenger in June 1983 and February 1984, but differs with kesukesan Palapa-B1 at 180E, Palapa-B2 having problems at perigee motor ignition and should be brought back to Earth for repair. Palapa-B2 was recovered by special operation of a space shuttle flight and then repaired and relaunched with the naming of the Palapa-B2R (refurbish) with the Delta launch vehicle, 6925-8.
The presence of the Palapa-B2R eventually replace the Palapa-B1 at 108E and Palapa-B1 was purchased by PT. Pacific Satellite Nusantara (PT.PSN), making this the first non-commercial satellite Intelsat in Asia by changing its name to Pacific Palapa-1 [APS 98/99].
In 1987, the Palapa B2P created and placed in orbit 113E through the Delta 3290 launch vehicle. The satellite is managed by PERUMTEL and Indosat to then rented to a 3rd party both from domestic and abroad. Palapa-B2P (ex. Palapa-B3) and then end the period of operation in February 1996 and then purchased by the satellite operator from the Philippines namely Mabuhay Philippines Satellite Corporation (MPSC), which changed its name to AGILA-1.
Along with market developments, in 1992, Telkom launched Palapa-B4 placed on 188E to mengakomodokasi demand for satellite circuit which continues to grow in the ASEAN region. Palapa-B4 satellite launched by Delta II launch vehicle, 7925 from Kennedy Space Center (U.S.).
